FAQs

What is powder coating?

Powder coating is the technique of taking a grounded metal part and applying an electrostatically charged powder. The powder is applied in a dry form and then placed in a curing oven where the powder “melts” over the piece creating an extremely durable, beautiful finish.

What can be coated?

Any metal objects that can withstand the temperatures of the curing process (350 F to 400 F). Powder coating can be very beneficial when applied to:

  • Automotive parts & wheels (we cannot fit full size automotive frames at this time)
  • Motorcycle parts, wheels & frames
  • Architectural/exterior signage
  • Trade show signs
  • Metal fencing & railings
  • Patio furniture/lawn ornaments
  • ATV/4 Wheeler parts, frames & wheels
  • Bicycle frames, wheels & parts
  • Boat/marine parts
  • Construction equipment
  • Computer towers
  • Snowmobile parts
  • Paintball guns & accessories
  • Grills & tailgating equipment
  • Anything else you can think of!
Do you remove tires?
We do not dismount tires at this time. You will need to bring in only the wheels with no tires, wheel weights or valve stems. Also, please clean your wheels as best as possible for the fastest turn around time and to avoid any additional charges.

Why is powder coating better than paint?

Powder coating is much more environmentally friendly as there are no solvents used in the application. There are also no harsh fumes or odors. Powder Coating is also much more durable than a traditional paint finish. Powder coated finishes are much more resistant to abrasion, rust/corrosion, and chemicals. Powder coated finishes also require much less upkeep, just wash with a light soap and water! With the hundreds of color and finish options with powder your imagination is the limit!

What if I have threads or areas I don’t want coated?

We have high temperature tapes and plugs that we use to fill every threaded hole or any other area you do not want coated.

What if I want to do more than one color?

If you wanted to do your valve cover black and the letters, for example,  we can definitely do that! There is an extra charge for multiple colors. We will make every effort to evaluate the part and what you’d like to do to make sure it is feasible but not everything is possible depending on the intricacy of the part.

What if you don’t have the color I want in stock?

We make every effort to have as much variety of colors in stock as possible but due to the huge range of colors and different gloss levels it is impossible for us to have everything. There is a $20 charge to special order a  standard color and a $25 charge for a specialty color we do not have in stock.

Can I ship my parts to you?

Yes! We serve customers all over the country not just Minnesota. If you’d like to ship your parts to us shoot us an email and let us know! Please package your parts as safely as possible with newspaper or bubble wrap to protect your items. If you pay to ship your items to us we’ll cover the costs to ship them back!

What is the turn around time?

Turn around time will vary slightly depending on the size of the job and current volume. We will give you an idea of the turn around when you request a quote or drop your parts off. Give us a call or text us and let us know when you’d like to drop parts off and ask what the turn around time would be from that day! 651-353-3994
